The government of Lagos state through the state commissioner for environment, Dr, Babatunde Adejare, has cancelled the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of May.
The reason for the cancellation is to facilitate ease of movement due to the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Examination which is being held Nationwide.
The commissioner stated that as a responsible government, they would not want the residents of the state who are participating in the exams to be shortchanged and so the need to cancel the sanitation exercise for this month.
He stated that irrespective of that, Lagosians should still take the time to clean their surroundings and also not patronize cart pushers who dump the refuse collected in canals and lagoons thereby worsening the drainage system in the state especially at a time like this during the rains when the drainage is needed to be at optimal functionality.
